A jigging spot is not a restaurant tip. The whole point of finding a wall is that the next boat does not already know it. Social fishing maps ask you to publish the thing you most want to keep. That is why a lot of good anglers will not log anything.

JigSpot does not have a public spot feed. A mark stays on your account until you share it. Sharing is a separate step, and you choose who hears about it.

Private until you say otherwise

  • Selected friends get an invite. They do not see the pin until they accept, and only while you are still friends.
  • All friends is a live audience, not a frozen list. A new friend can see it later. You can revoke it. Unfriending removes that live access.
  • Nothing is shared by saving a spot. The default is private.

Exact is a choice

If you do share, you choose the precision. Exact means the pin. Approximate snaps it to about a kilometre, raises the accuracy floor, and hides the notes, the depth, and the zone scores. The name and the species can still travel with an approximate share, so do not put the ground's nickname in the title if the area is the secret.

If a friend copies the spot, that copy becomes theirs, at the precision they were shown. Revoke does not delete a copy already made. Know that before you share exact.

Trips are stricter than spots. Tracks, fights, and trip photos stay on the phone. Live position is not the saved mark. It is a timed broadcast to the boats you pick, and it switches itself off.

The app is only useful if you trust it with the mark. Private is the default. Sharing is the exception you control.
