Notes from the water.
Six pieces on the problems that actually lose a jigging day, and how the app handles them. No public spot list. No invented catches.

The chart
Read the bottom before you drop
The fish are not on the beach. They hold where the bottom changes, and that is the part a coastline map never draws.

On the boat
One hand on the rod
If the app wants a species name while the rod is loaded, it was not built for jigging.

The window
The morning is decided the night before
Waking at three because the group chat said the weather looks okay is how you burn the fuel.

Getting there
The last hundred metres
The mark is on the phone. The boat is still a length off. That last bit is where most phone maps fail.

The catch log
Call the fish what the boat calls it
If you have to translate the catch before you can write it down, you will not write it down.

Privacy
Your mark stays yours
The mark is the advantage. If the app shows it to everyone, serious anglers will not put it in the app.
